    Detective Kwasic Heckard K9 Officer: Detective Kwasic Heckard became a member of the Monroe Police Department in April of 2009. Before he became a police officer, he served in the US. Marines. Detective Heckard has worked three years in patrol and two years in the K-9 unit. When he came to the Monroe Police Department, one of his goals was to become a K-9 handler. Detective Heckard’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed, and he was partnered with Canine “Ducko”. Ducko is a from a breed known as a Belgium Malinois. Detective Heckard continues to excel. He is also a member of the SWAT team, where he has served in that capacity for the past three years.

    Sargent Charles Johnson Bomb Tech: In February of 1996 Sgt. Johnson took a full time position with the Police Department.

    Through his 19 year career Sgt. Johnson has been afforded opportunities by the Administration to serve the citizens of Monroe in specialized divisions such as EOD, SWAT, and DIVE Teams. Sgt. Johnson says he takes great pride in the responsibility MPD places in him. “Knowing that I am one of the officers that will be called upon in the most critical of times to protect or save lives means a lot to me. This is what drives me to be the best officer I can to provide the services and protection for the community”.

    Sgt. Albert Edmiston: Sgt. Albert Edmiston has been with the Monroe Police Department for 22 years. His faithful dedication to the police department has brought about an array of positions including Jailer, Patrol Officer, Jump Team, Crime Stoppers Detective, Pawnshop Detective, Sniper Team, SWAT Team, MET Team Supervisor, Day Shift Supervisor, Night Shift Supervisor. Because of his family roots, he chose a career in law enforcement to continue family tradition. If it were not for the love of the police force, you would probably find Sgt. Edmiston amongst a team of professional divers. It is always difficult when dealing with families going through rough times but with Sgt. Edmiston’s unwavering need to see positive results, he stops at nothing to deliver joyful endings.

    The Patrol Division is the most visible and recognizable unit of the Monroe Police Department and Patrolman Robert Foley is a team leader within his department. When he became a member of the Monroe Police Department 5 years ago, he wanted to make a difference in the community. Patrolman Foley chose a career in law enforcement because of his strong desire to help people all while understanding the value of being a first responder by proactively preventing and deterring crimes with his presence. He is truly motivated by making a difference in the community and is rewarded by providing service to all citizens.
